Community Art Therapy Program

Watwero's community art therapy program utilizes creative arts of dance, music, paintings, and deejaying as a tool for rehabilitation, mindset change, as well as  building life skills that can be useful to generate income to participants. It also encourages inclusion among individuals. The program as so far operated in communities such as prisons, among street-connected teenagers, and people affected by mental health challenges.  

It as also partnered with and still partners with organisations including,

producing projects including

Prison  Art Project: This provides free access to art materials, music classes, dance classes, and art and painting classes to hundred inmates.

Art theatre   Forum:  Engaging over 30 street connected teenagers through theatre of the oppressed plays within community to edutain on different community issues

Theatre health  drama project:  These produces dance and drama plays to inspire and enact the desired change among the community, changing community perspective about children who live and work on street base on their true story.

Inclusion festival: For the past 2 years, watwero has been partnering with Backup Uganda to ensure inclusive participation by differently able people in to activities like dance, inspiring the community to do whatever their hearts desire without physical, emotional and mental limitation.

Smiles and Hope project: In 2022, watwero partnered with Rotary clubs of Gulu to pay a visit to Odek, a renown community affected by nodding syndrome. We danced together, taught the community how to make liquid soap for both home and commercialisation use, we also shared with them cloth, soap and many other materials donated by other people.
